Map of the Track

The Baltimore Grand Prix is officially going down this week from September 2nd-September 4th in Baltimore. This will be the 1st event of its kind in the city. Alot of controversy about whether it was a good choice to have the Grand Prix here because of the amount of expenses being spent but our wonderful Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake has ensured constituents and residents that this is nothing but a good way to bring attention to our great city and increase tourism. Well…..some are skeptical but my Politic With Permiss spys say that downtown Baltimore is looking like a busy week in Time Square in New York. Looks like Mayor Rawlings-Blake may be right.  What is even cooler is that General Colin Powell is said to be the Grand Marshall of this event. The official website www.baltimoregrandprix.com is your official spot for all information for this event. You can catch Politic With Permiss down on the tracks and in the stands.  We dont know who will take the big trophy at the end but if we were gambling people Dancing With the Stars Alum, Helio Castroneves has just as good of a chance as the other drivers.  We will be cheering for everyone! Check back with  us here at www.PoliticWithPermissOnline.com for the official race coverage!!!

In Loving Memory of Brandy Larkins: Benefit for the Bolling Family Thursday, September 1st, Sonar Baltimore

28 Aug

Baltimore Hip Hop Artist, Yuk (aka Mr. Livewire) never expected to feel joy and pain all on one day. On August 4th, 2011  as people around the world gave special 50th Birthday salutations to President Barack Obama, Yuk and his spouse Brandy Larkins welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Kaylee to the world. A congratulatory comment on Yuk’s Facebook page earlier in the day read, “Its Barack’s Birthday, so we will call her the First Lady!” Well wishes splashed both of their Facebook pages and then in one moment all of it came to a grinding holt, when tragically Brandy died during the child birthing process. Then, on both of their pages, sad tearful messages seemed to drift on down the Facebook wall one by one.

Many Artists and the Who’s Who within the  Baltimore hip hop community known for beefs, battles and hardcore rhymes lended kind and supportive words to Yuk, and have banded together to show sympathy to one of its fellow talents in what seemed to be a sad and tragic course of personal events.  Yuk, who has a long hip hop history in Baltimore with affiliations with record label, For the People Entertainment, is one of the city’s most promising MCs working with closely with other fellow Baltimore artist and singers and performing shows all around the area. He was also a proud parent and husband to a young and bright Ms. Brandy Larkins.  Photos of Brandy with and without her glowing baby bump canvased her and Yuk’s Facebook pages both showing and displaying their love for one another and their excitement of their new little one. As any friend would look over the pictures, they would have never expected that such a happy day would lead to the loss of a very seemingly healthy, young woman. Losing Brandy was a tragic loss for the family, but she will live on through her beautiful daughter, who they named Kaylee Brandy Nicole in homage to her mother.

In memory of Brandy and for the benefit of their young children, award winning Baltimore promoter Tayland Promotions, as well as a host of family and friends have put together a series of events to help Yuk, who is now the single parent to 4 young children during this difficult time. September 1st, will be the Benefit for Yuk & Brandy powered by Tayland Promotions to take place at Sonar Baltimore. In the essense that is Baltimore hip hop, the benefit show will feature performances by Bmore hip hop stars KG, C.O.M.P,  K.A.R.T.E.L’s own Bar Cardy & Miss Cream, Varsity Ent’s own DBoi Da Dome and a feature performance by Yuk himself with BlockWork Mixtape DJ Jabril on the wheels of steel.

Politic With Permiss is asking the community to support this benefit by attending and supporting this young MC and his family during a sad and tragic time. Due to the mounting cost of burial (Brandy did not have life insurance) and medical expenses, any donation would be appreciated.

Donations can be made directly in the name of Darell Bolling, 153 S. Hilton St Baltimore Md 21229. Cash and Item donations (clothing for children, 3 boys, ages 6, 7, &10 and 1 newborn girl) will be needed. The admission is $10, doors open at 8pm. All donations and proceeds from this benefit will go to the Bolling Family.  For more information, contact Tayland Promotions at 410-703-4049.

Politic With Permiss would like to thank its listeners and supporters in advance for supporting our brethren Yuk and his family during this time. We send our deepest condolences and prayers.

News Update: Dedication of MLK Memorial Postponed by Hurricane – ABC News

26 Aug

If you had plans to take a field trip to DC, Sunday morning, seems as though you can hold off! The anticipated official march for jobs and unveiling has been postponed. Politic With Permiss was definitely going to be attending. Here is a portion of a news article, from ABC News:

With Hurricane Irene bearing down on the nation’s capital, organizers postponed a planned weekend dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall, dashing hopes of paying tribute to the civil rights leader on the 48th anniversary of his “I Have a Dream” speech.

The dedication had been planned for 11 a.m. Sunday, and organizers expected up to 250,000 people to attend. President Barack Obama was one of the scheduled speakers, and organizers were in the process of setting up a stage and chairs beside the King memorial, which sits on a 4-acre waterfront site in the nation’s capital.

Harry Johnson, the president of the foundation that built the memorial, announced at a hastily called news conference Thursday evening that the dedication will be postponed until September or October. Hours earlier, Johnson had insisted at another media briefing that the dedication would continue as scheduled.

He changed his mind after studying forecasts that indicated Irene was strengthening and tracking more toward the west.

“I remained optimistic all day, but Mother Nature is Mother Nature,” Johnson said. “I’m very disappointed and hurt, really. We all are.”

Nexus! An Incredible Event-Task Force Marketing Networking Party

19 Aug

Source: http://www.Merdj.com

untitledLast night I stop the Chariot down at Frank Johnson’s launch of Nexus/ Industry networking party at Milan. The event was LIVE and filled with power players from within the Baltimore Arts, Culture and Entertainment scene. It was everything with-out the usual bull shit that is associated with the Baltimore. You know unnecessary crab in barrel mentality that seems to be synonymous with “Baltimore”… Naw none of that was there.  Instead the event was laced with individuals from diverse entrepreneurial efforts whose mission is to see Baltimore become the professional entertainment district it can be.

The dance floor stayed packed with locals doing the Baltimore Two Step. A stylish ass dance that Baltimore emcee Los created.  Not only was the music live but the people were too. Everybody genuinely seemed to be having a good time. I was greeted with kisses, and hugs in which I attribute to positive atmosphere that The Task Force Marketing team created.

The networking was serious. Everybody came out Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, mayor hopeful Catherine Pugh, Lil Mo, The Hip Hop Chef Tye, Caddy Da Don, Tony Austin, Bossman, Poet, Thea Washingtion, J Claxton, Los, Mottz, Swen, Paula Campbell, Shawn Caesar, DJ DNA, Tracy Stanford, Don Trunk, Kariz, C-Clear,  Kai Sincere, Bilal, Shani Elliote, Shadeed, Sonjay, Fame of Streetsmart Magazine, Permiss, Singelton, Tim Curry, Dwayne and a host of bloggers and other Social Media Networks. From music to politics the who’s ,who’s was definitely in the building.

This event made a great impact on the Baltimore Night scene. It definitely set standards on what promoters, media outlets, and industry professionals should strive for. The purpose of this event was to connect and build relationship so that the DMV will be a strong business community. I believe that vision was realized. Starting with home first the Task Force Marketing and New Media Group was able to unify those who believe in the Baltimore Scene. Standing ovation toFrank Johnson and his whole team.
